Julian's Garden (5)

Julian's basil plants have turned into a little forest. Other than using them in heirloom tomato salads, we have also plugged leaves to make pesto, which is quite yummy when used to cook fish or make pasta or sandwiches (mix with mayonnaise to make pesto mayo!).

The sun gold is growing well in the front porch. The first sun-gold tomato has grown almost to its full size. It is still green, however. On last count yesterday, we have about 15 tomatoes on the plant!

Our first heirloom tomato! This one is still a baby fruit but it's growing a little bigger each day.

Remember the plant that got snapped in half by the squirrels? Julian planted the two halves in the same pot and they are doing well. But since they're still so small so late in the season, we're not sure whether we'll get any fruits from this plant. I'm just happy to see that it survived.

Speaking of survival, the lone surviving cilantro next to the basil is still there. It has grown quite tall. When the squirrels came a couple of weeks ago to eat the basil, they knocked over this poor cilantro on its side. But, it continues to survive and growing along the wall. Flowers are blooming on the cilantro plant.
