The winning strategy

With every good board game, the winning strategy involves maximizing the use of resources towards victory points (or whatever it is that will win the game) . You have to focus and go all out. You practically have to allocate all your resources towards components that will help you win, making the best use of them. Sometimes this means bidding just the right amount for a needed item, with enough money left as the final tie-breaker. You never have a padding of extra resources, no raining day fund whatever....if you want to win, that is.

I've often found that board games imitate real life. Sometimes I wonder if the same general game winning strategy holds true for life. Sometimes, I wonder whether I'm playing it safe too much... preventing myself from "winning", from becoming more than I am now.

But then, the worst thing about going with the wrong strategy in a board game is losing the game, whereas we've got a lot more to loose in real life, don't we?
