Julian's Garden (1)

Inspired by a magazine article, Julian decided to start an herb and heirloom tomatoes garden. It's been a little over a month for the tomatoes and about a month for the cilantro and basil. It's amazing seeing their growth over time!

With cilantro and basil, we used the Miracle Gro Moisture Control Mix and Julian sowed the seeds purchased from Johnny Seeds directly into the planter outdoors. It took around two weeks before the little sprouts found their way out of the soil. After that, the sun does its magic and the herbs have been growing really well since! See how big they've grown in just 1 month!

The heirloom tomato seeds required a little more work. Julian started them in plug flats w/trays indoors in Miracle Gro Seed Starting Mix. Within a week or so, the 1st little sprout found its way up and the others gradually came out over the next couple of weeks. Of the 8 seeds sowed, 6 of them grew. Not bad at all! Again, kudos to Johnny Seeds. After about a month growing indoors, seeing how well the basil and cilantro grew outdoors, we decided to move the little sprouts outdoors. We found that they didn't like the wind nor direct sunlight. Fortunately, the little sprouts stayed strong and hung on. Looks like we still have a long way to go!
