One year after Academy of Sciences re-opened after its renovation, we finally had the opportunity to visit on a free day. We spent ~2.5-3 hours there and were most impressed the 4-story Rainforest and the Morrison Planetarium!

On the stroll up, we noticed these little strawberry poison dart frogs amongst the Bromeliad plants, within reach of the walkway, not behind any containers or cage!

10 different types of birds and 10 different types of butterflies roam freely within the rain forest globe. On the walk up, we saw this Blue Morpho butterfly resting on the rail.

The Morrison Planetarium is the largest all-digital dome in the world with a 75-foot diameter projection screen tilted at a 30 degree angle. We saw the "Fragile Planet" film when we were there and it really felt like we took a journey from the museum's roof to beyond the milky way. The Morrison Planetarium is definitely the most awesome planetarium I've visited!

Whether you are a visitor of San Francisco, or a local who has yet to visit the museum, I highly recommend it!
