Get rewarded for being green
We started bringing reusable bags to the grocery store recently. I noticed a little line item on the receipt today - $0.06 paper bag credit (for 2 bags). Six cents isn't much, but it's good to see Safeway puts in a little incentive to encourage customers to think green. Whole Foods has a similar program, which gives shoppers a choice of $0.05 paper bag credit (per bag), or a 5-cent cork token for donation to a choice of charities supported by the store.
