All that government stuff in DC

Day 3 in DC, we have a tour scheduled with Senator Diane Feinstein's office. We start off at the Hart Senate office, where a multi-floor Alexander Calder sculpture is displayed in the center of the courtyard. It's called Mountain and Clouds. We got to walk in underground walkways and ride the underground transportation between senate office buildings and the Capitol. It's a maze down there! Three "generations" of this transportation is seen. And old out-of-commission cart, the recent-term cart that touritsts ride in, and the subway that staff actually ride in.

Inside the Capitol is a spot that marks the center of Washington. It is from this spot that the four quadrants of DC is divided. One of the most famous indoor sight of the Capitol is probably the Rotunda. On top of the rotunda is a painting, the center of it is George Washington with maidens representing the first states that entered into the United States of America. Surrounding this painting is a circular continuous piece of artwork about American History, starting with Columbus' exploration of America.

We had worn our comfy dress shoes, since we figured we weren't going to walk a lot on this day. But we were wrong. Our feet were hurting after our visit to the senate's office and the Capitol.

So as we were walking to the Hart Senate office, we passed by Library of Congress, which we knew we were going to visit later. So guess what the Library of Congress is for? It really is a library! A huge library, with artwork inside, adorning the walls and ceilings of the building. Overall, not too exciting. However, I especially enjoyed the archway in the building lobby, with a young scholar on left and old philosopher on right; it symbolizes our learning from

After Library of Congress, we were dead tired and opted to go back to the hotel to take a nap. What a great idea! A much needed nap. In the evening, we got all dressed up for dinner at City Zen in the Mandarin Oriental. Service was amazing, but food was not as good as expected.

After a long day and having skipped a day of workout, we resumed our p90x program. That was brutal, but it's good. We ended up hitting the sack around 3:00 am. Zzzzz
